When a skin PNG will not import on a phone

Check the file and picker before changing the design.

Find the original download

A screenshot can have a PNG extension while containing the wrong image. A picture of a character is not necessarily its texture. Locate the original download and check its dimensions and layout.

iPhone: Files and Photos are different places

A download may be in Files rather than the photo library. The picker depends on the app and workflow. Check the actual storage location and relevant access permissions. Do not assume every gallery operation changes the file format.

Android: location and access

Find the downloaded original and confirm that the picker can access it. Review relevant app permissions if needed. A messaging copy or thumbnail is not a reliable substitute for inspecting the original file.

Compare with a working file

Try a texture known to work in the same environment. If it succeeds, compare the files. If both fail, inspect the import route and platform support. Record the error wording and the step where it occurs.

Preserve your data

Renaming a JPEG to PNG or stretching an image does not repair its layout. Avoid deleting worlds or clearing all app data as an initial response. These checks narrow the cause; they do not promise that every device accepts every custom skin.
